Accessible Design
The aim of this project was to transform the ground floor into a fully functional, self-contained space — designed to improve the quality of life for a family member with limited mobility. We extended the property to create a comfortable ground-floor bedroom, a modern shower room, an accessible kitchen/ dining area and a comfortable lounge, all designed with ease of movement in mind. To complete the transformation, we provided level access both at the front door and onto a spacious, welcoming deck at the back, ensuring the home is not only practical but also a joy to live in.

Connecting to the Garden
This project focused on rethinking the layout of the home to create a bright, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space at the rear — making the most of the connection to the garden. The original arrangement left the garden feeling underused and disconnected, while the narrow side path had become little more than a storage area for bikes, taking away from the outdoor space.
Working within a modest budget, we designed a timber infill extension that made the most of the existing layout, keeping structural changes to a minimum. We also introduced new windows to the dining area overlooking the former side path, transforming it into a charming semi-enclosed courtyard and breathing new life into both the house and garden.
